THE POWER OF SOLITUDE

"Without great solitude no serious work is possible" - Pablo Picasso.

I found this island in Langkawi a great place, especially because there were very few people around. I could see long stretches of nature in its quiet form with very few humans. I don't get this ambience in a city.

It's in these solitary times that we hit the precious fathomless depths of our thinking and that's when the best of art gets created.

While most of us need a quiet place to focus, some great people have been able to find solitude and concentration while being in the middle of a cacophony. This is super human. The great cricketer Sunil Gavaskar used to mention that he could concentrate for long periods while in the middle of people talking and shouting.

Location: Beras Basah Island, Langkawi

Roy, similar to this is what have observed the rig operators taking a nap under the truck when the rig is running. This is a very common scene in rural TN regions where the rigs operate for 36 to 48 hrs without a break.

Thanks Praveen for bringing out this very pertinent example. What a life they would be going through isn't it?
