This obelisk was erected in memory of the fearless young Bellot of the French Navy, who in his endeavour to rescue Capt. Sir John Franklin, the illustrious navigator, shared the same fate and glory. This stands on the bank of the Thames at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich, London.
