Sketch of a birdie using Extra Dark and 2B pencils. I am doing sketching after a pretty long time. This was a cathartic experience and helped me to swim through my periods of stress.
I had been working on this over a week, as getting to sit right through is a real challenge. On the whole it has taken just less than an hour. I posted this on a night, after I got back from work and it is coincidental that the following morning, when I was singing a prayer song, I heard at least three different chirps of the birds in the trees around our house. I felt blessed.
A few weeks back, one of our neighbours approached us with a request to get a tree that has been there with us for years, cut and taken off at the root level. The roots had spread and the flooring that lay in front of their house, was opening out because of this. I was fine with the idea, but my daughter did not want to. She was so attached to the greenery and the birds that lived in them. She even asked me if I could fund my neighbour to get their flooring repaired each time it opened up, so as to save the tree.
I wish I implemented her idea, but practically speaking, we will lose this tree soon. I feel sad every time I think of it.

Hello Roy.. Its good to know that you are blessed with chirps of birds which many of the chennaites are longing for :) Nice to see your pencil sketch as well :)
Hi Roy Chayan,Nice to see your writing again and this time u have surprised me with a drawing of yours. Here i would like to connect your writing with a bible quote. When u said u were singing a prayer song you could hear birds chirping, the first verse which came into my mind was...
Psalm 86:9-10
All the nations and creations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name. For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.
And no wonder you felt blessed, coz as the bible says...
Matthew 18:20
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
Stay blessed always ..:-)
smile thanks
you are doing great
continue this enthu n stay smiling
cheers
You sketch well.
Hi,
The tree was cut , the neighbors restored their veranda , then we looked out . There was no shade there was this scorching sun light directly hitting the window , there was no fallen leaves or flowers but it was new , my rooms we brighter , we had to move with the times .As years go by we have given up many things like these beautiful trees , we gave up open fields where we used to run, we gave up the feeling of the winds when the kites went up , we filled in the pools that held our rains , We could not stop that change and what has to change will change , But what cannot change is that picture of the bird. Its 2H of charcoal that caries the memory of the green colors of leaves ,the shade and the sound birds that nothing can uproot from that image from our mind , the joy that once was..
He we had a similar problem in our flat . We dug the ground till we reached the root and cut it so that it could spread in other directions and not the way it was pushing our wall.

Hello,
Thnx much for posting your thoughts..Yes, that's how it will turn out to be as we are having no control on the destruction of nature. Especially the feel of the fallen leaves and flowers when you see them and walk on them, it's special.
I am happy that my daughter has some feel of greenery close to our home.
Regards
Roy
