BIRDS THAT REFINE AND EASE MORTAL LIVES

Take time to delve, take time to search,
The depths of our inner self all beautiful,
Where birds of dormant talent silently perch,
In cages of untapped potential so resourceful.

We need to set these birds free,
To explore our talents that lie dormant,
And thus reap benefits that fellowmen will see,
In their daily lives that often remain stagnant.

We shirk, we fear, we dread to explore,
Our dormant talents any day,
For we feel that men will deplore,
The failures that could come our way.

Let us garner all our energies today,
And embark on a journey to explore,
For our dauntless steps will someday,
Refine the lives of our fellowmen evermore.

Pasted below is the selection of this poem from Poetry.com for their anthology.

Just this week whilst doing a performance appraisal, I said - you need to spread your wings and fly - to someone who really needs to explore their strengths. Interestingly here you have written about exactly that - your words really ring with me! Very well written, Roy!!

I liked these lines really well.
"We shirk, we fear, we dread to explore,
Our dormant talents any day,
For we feel that men will deplore,
The failures that could come our way."

We fear failure, we shirk trying. Winning is different. But we are afraid even to try....

What a delicate and inspiring poem! Its message about freeing our dormant talents was received as a true gesture of kindness — a soothing touch to the soul that comforts, inspires, and reminds us of the transformative power we carry within.

@Santhosh: You have the right understanding. If only we kept trying, this world would have been a different place.

Thanks much Elaine. This poem was written in a phase where I was trying to use my talents that I had within me and at the same time, expecting the world outside to appreciate me. Today I just put my efforts and leave the rest. It's a miracle that readers like you, take interest and read up my earlier pieces.
