This is the war ruins of the Coventry Cathedral which was bombed during World War II. I believe that the overall view looks much more beautiful with no roof and the open sky on top. This is a paradox, a glory in the ruins.

THE FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH DESIGNED BY ELIEL SAARINEN, 1942

This church was one of the first modernist religious buildings in the USA. Saarinen's brick structure in Columbus, Indiana comprises cuboid volumes, including a tall tower with a perforated top that allows sounds from the church organ to proliferate.
